Affiliation

To gain visitors and expand a website's fanbase, two websites may decide to affiliate with each other. This is essentially when they both link to each other as a way of saying "This is a cool site similar to this one. You ought to visit it." Typically, they are similar in subject (for example, it is odd for a website about Half-life to affiliate with a website about Russia's tsars). Affiliation is important within fansites (at least, I haven't seen many non-fan websites that claimed to be affiliated to others) because it unites the fanbase (ok, maybe not, but that sounds nice, doesn't it?)

Now, if you want to affiliate with me, I will essentially be endorsing your website. I have certain rules and conditions if you want to be an affiliate of mine.

The website must be a Pokemon, Paper Mario, or EarthBound website in either English or Spanish. Spanish websites will be marked as such in the affiliation box. As for the 'maturity' of the content, the most I will allow is some swearing, innuendo, and violence that isn't graphic. I won't accept websites with plagiarized material or with hateful and/or prejudiced content. It must have a fair amount of content and update often enough to let the visitors know that the website isn't dead. If it has an eye-hurting layout or is impossible to navigate, forget it. I know some websites have to have ads (take a look at the top of this page), but less is more. Oh yeah, I would like to add that there should be no illegal or harmful material. Finally, you have to have an agreeable nature. This translates to "Don't be a jerk." This shouldn't scare you off all that much; if you think I'm going to find you a jerk, you are probably not the sort of person I'm thinking of. So long as you come across as a nice person in both your site and letter, this should not be a bother at all.

Perhaps you are thinking that these conditions are rather vague; "What do you mean by 'update often'?" I determine what is often and what is a fair amount of content and all the other stuff. If you're worried that you won't meet the conditions, don't be. Should you happen to fail, you can try again (please actually put effort into improving your site based on what I said, though).
