FREE One-Offs Guide
It's human nature to like free stuff (seriously, it is) and so it follows that I like free Pokemon. If you like 'em too, chances are you'll enjoy this guide. These are all the Pokemon (other than the starters) that you'll get for free (in other words, you don't have to throw Pokeballs at them). Most of them require no effort. If I missed any, please contact me.
Togepi Egg: You must have given the MYSTERY EGG to Prof. Elm. Go to Violet City. Beat the Gym. Go to the Poke-Center. Talk to the aide. He will blab on and on and on, until he gives you an egg. YAY! Inside is a baby Togepi. The egg is near hatching, so it will hatch around the time you reach Azalea City.
??? Egg Crystal Only: This is Crystal Only. First, go to the Day-Care and talk to the man. He will say that two Pokemon were together, and when they were separated, an egg was found! (Kind of freaky) He says that the Trainer won't accept the egg. Yadadada, and he gives it to you. Inside is either Cleffa, Pichu, Tyrogue, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Magby, or Elekid. They will know Dizzy Punch. However, you should save before getting the egg. When it hatches, notice if it's a shiny Pokemon. If it isn't, restart. The Pokemon will have better stats if it is shiny.
Eevee: Stop by this house in Goldenrod City to get your own complimentary Eevee. If Bill's not home, that means you haven't met him yet. Bill is located in the next city's Pokemon Center. Have a slot open for it though or you won't be able to get it. Another way to get Eevee is by going to Celadon City and paying 6,666 coins for one in the Game Corner, though that's not free.
Spearow: In the house on the route after Celadon, talk to the guard. He will give you a Spearow called Kenya. After he gives it to you, do NOT talk to the sleepy guy near Dark Cave. He will take the Spearow.
Tyrogue: In Mt. Mortar, go through the maze, and at the end, fight the Karate guy and win. If you have less than 6 Pokemon when you beat him, you'll get the fighting type Tyrogue.
Shuckle: In Cianwood, talk to this poor guy in a house (he is the only one there, I think) and if you have less than 6 Pokemon, he'll give you Shuckle. Do not talk to him after that, though, because he'll want Shuckle back. You can tell him that you won't give it back, but then you'll have to deal with the crushing guilt... or not.
