Pokemon Stadium
Pokemon Stadium was one of the best games to play with friends back in the day of the Nintendo 64. The best part was the mini-games, most of which were great. There was a Drowsee one which was boring and hard. The best one was the Raticate one where you had to jump over things that appeared to get to first place. Magikarp Splash was easy but also awesome. You had to jump and bump the machine to increase the number on it. The one with the highest number of machine-bumps was the winner. The Clefairy one was like Simon says - you had to write the directions Clefairy gave you on e apaper and then perform them (technically you had to memorize them, but nobody did that). Ekans Hula Hoop consisted of throwing Ekans Hula Hoops at Digletts to get points. Yellow Digletts (this was before shinies were introduced!) gave three points. Sandshrew searching for oil, I mean water, was hard with one controller. You needed to use L and R. The gimped controller didn't register the use of L, and so the game was impossible to win.
Playing in the actual stadium was hard for me. You could use your own Pokemon or pick from 149 pre-set Pokemon. Since Pokemon Stadium was my first game, I used the predetermined Pokemon. Blaine always beat me. >.< Even when I imported my Pokemon later on, I couldn't win. In VS multiplayer, I filled my team with Pokemon I liked and gave the opponent Weedle and Caterpie. :P
The Camera was also loads of fun. I loved taking pictures of stuff in that time (this was also fun in Smash Bros.) and this was the perfect opportunity for it. Random Pokemon, random poses, random name tags. Oh, and random camera angles. Some of the Pokemon have really weird standing animations, like Dratini (why does it randomly fly up and stretch itself out?), so I tried to get it in the best pose possible and take a picture. Yes, it was tons of fun. I didn't have the printer thing, though.
Pokemon Stadium 2
This game had more mini-games (twelve, I think?). It still worked with the transfer pak. One thing that always bothered me was that if you had Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow in the transfer pak, it would say something like 'Back to the Present' time or something in that style. What does that mean? I never figured out if it was useful or if it meant something. What else...? The mystery gift was fun. It worked with Gold, Silver, and Crystal, and you could plug your game into the transfer pak and get a daily gift from a girl whose name escapes me.
The mini-games now had a new feature - earning money if you had your G/S/C game in and you were in a competition. You could even have your Pokemon participate in the mini-game (if it was the right type of Pokemon). There were also quizzes. The library was fun because I could look at all the Pokemon with weird attacks and say "I wonder what that does/ looks like?" There was an academy thing that was actually pretty useful.
As always, I failed at the Gym Leader thing. :P I can never figure out which Pokemon to use. I was at the 4th one this time, I think. I remember doing the Tiny Cup and winning it. I absolutely fail at the other cups, though. Competitive battling was never my strength. Me, I just liked catching stuff. :)
