Mother 3's Sound Player

The fact that Mother 3 has a sound player is quite fun for me. I wish more games had things like that. This is essentially a sound test, only better because you can add songs to your favorites and apparently record.

To add a song to your favorites list...

  1. Find the song you want.
  2. Go to the right, to the gray heart symbol next to the red symbol.
  3. Press A.
  4. A little red heart should show up underneath the gray heart.
  5. If you press R, you will be transported to your favorites and the song should appear in your playlist. Congratulations! You can have up to 20 songs favorited.

    6. Some songs I would reccomend are:

    • track 240 (theme of masked boy)
    • track 238 (Pollyanna)
    • track 186 (Snowman)
    • track 177 (the magipsy theme, I think. either way, it's scarily close to pachelbel's canon)
    • track 167 (a version of the Theme of Love)
    • track 161 (the earthbound hotel theme)
    • track 144 (the rock 'n' roll song for this game, for Jealous Bass and broken guitar)
    • track 123 (YADO, which means INN in Japanese. This is clearly inspired by the earthbound hotel theme)
    • track 100 (Beethoven's 5th, in the style of Mr. Passion. It's so passionate that I fell out of my seat. Of course, the rest is actually different, and Vivaldi's 5th is somewhere in there, but I'm not a classical music expert.)
    • Track 98 (if you want to host a dance party with video game songs, this is your song. Wes and Salsa dance to it)
    • Track 90 (this is Mr. Passion's first song, and is also all classical and stuff)/
    • Track 85 (Ghost Ragtime, anyone?)
    • Track 58 (yet another variation on Pachelbel's Canon in D. Man, Rob Pavaronian wasn't kidding when he said Pachelbel is everywhere. This is the magyspie song)
    • Track 45 (another version of the Mother 3 theme of love. It's a beautiful song, so the more versions the better, or at least that's my opinion).
    • Track 18 (the theme for the menu. this song is so amazing and relaxing. it's the best possible song for the menu).
    • Track 2 (The naming screen).

    Some easy songs to combo to are:

    • Track 54
    • Track 144
    • Track 10

    Now, I would like to be able to put the entire sound player list of songs here, with names in English for easy reference. However, I don't really know the English names. When the Mother 3 English fan translation comes out, I might use that. Also, I swear about 1/3 of the songs here are variations of Porky's song.

    Lock (Continuous play)

    If you don't want to have to keep pressing the back button to hear the same song, you can use the red floppy disk (which is actually a lock :P) to keep the song on continuous play. When it ends, it will start over instead of moving on to the next song.

    Recording (?)

    I have no idea if this is true, haven't tried it out, and am confused about it. If you know more about this, please . Supposedly, you can record sounds. I, however, have no idea if this is possible or, if it is, how to do it.
